Leave Your Legacy Month
How it Works
Anyone willing to leave $5,000 or more to a Williamsburg area charity or religious organization may be eligible to have their will written for free by a local attorney. Simply fill out an application form and release form and mail or fax them to the address shown on the form. To be eligible you must either not have a will or have an old will that was written by someone other than one of the participating attorneys. You cannot be a current client of one of the participating attorneys. Once we review your application you will be assigned an attorney. The approximate value of the will is $500. If you need an advance medical directive or power of attorney, each of those documents will be $75. If you need a trust, you will be given a $500 discount on preparation of trust documents.
For Nonprofits
If you are already a participating nonprofit, you can use the Leave A Legacy logo to promote this program to your constituents. To participate, download the Leave a Legacy Program Local Partner License Agreement, complete and sign it, and fax it to Nancy Sullivan (757-259-1227). This is a great opportunity to promote your legacy society and legacy giving among your board and volunteers. You can download a brochure here.
